I’m Scared and It’s the Bees Knees

Back on January 2, I mentioned to you that I had ordered four, three pound packages of honey bees plus queens for each package.  If you do math real quick, you will find that adds up to twelve pounds of bees.  That is a lot of bees!

At that time, I had also mentioned to you my Postal Carriers aversion to delivering said bees.  I was delighting in the fact that he would have to drive around all day being serenaded by the “Hmmmm, Bzzzz” chorus of my new acquisition.   This was going to be fun!

Early this morning I received a phone call from his substitute.  He was out for the day and she was taking over his route.  She is a very nice lady.

“Your bees arrived.”  She told me.

I was delighted!

“You are one of the last people on my route.  Will these bees be okay for that long?”  She asked me.

The weather was only supposed to get to 60 F. today so I told her that the bees would be just fine.

A few hours later, I was out running an errand with my son.  My phone rang again.  I answered it.  It was the lady Postal Carrier.

“I’m at your house.”  She said.

I was surprised.  It was only 10:00 am!

“I am afraid of the bees.”  She said.  “Can I just leave them on your front porch?”

I tried really hard not to laugh into the phone.

“That would be just fine.”  I told her.

She was very grateful and said “Thank you” over and over and over.

Poor lady.  She really is a nice lady.  I wonder if my guy Postal Carrier knew the bees were coming today and took the day off on purpose?  Hmmm…..    🙂
