Woo-Hoo!!!

I got the email.  I yelled to MFH (My Favorite Husband) “I’m in!” and sat there and cried.

I could not believe it!  I mean, I really, really wanted it but did not expect it to happen.  Over 70,000 people had signed up for 45,000 slots and some of those were already taken by people who had pre-qualified.  The odds were not in my favor.

Then, some of my friends started getting their acceptance emails.  I was very, very happy for them but it was not looking good for me.  They were only going to send out acceptance emails for another 45 minutes.  Nope.  Not this year.

Oh well…there was a nice marathon on the Gulf Coast that had my eye.  I would do that one instead.

Then, for the millionth time today, I refreshed my email.  There was an email from Chicago.  Oh, man…here is was, the “Thanks but no thanks” email.”  I opened it up and it said, “Congratulations!  You have been selected to run the 2014 Chicago Marathon!”  Wow!  Oh Wow!  Oh Wow!!!

That is when I yelled to MFH and then cried.  I was stunned.  I was excited!  I was very happy!  I was in shock.

Chicago.  Both of my children were born in Chicago.  We moved from there when my son was an infant and he is now 24.  It has been a long time.  Cannot wait to get a decent pizza!

So, my race schedule has changed a little bit.  I was contemplating some small races this fall after my 50K but I think that after the 50K (July 26)  I will pretty much just have to maintain my fitness level until October.

Wow!  This has been a real, “Pinch me, I am dreaming” day.

Cool Beans, Huh?   🙂
