Like a “Bat Out of Hell”

Exciting times this morning!

I ran the opposite side of the frontage road this morning.  The North side.  I told myself that it would be quiet.  There is not much traffic on that side.  There are very few businesses and a restaurant that does not open until 5:00 pm so the road would be mine for the taking.  Awesome!

The day was perfect!  It was overcast so I did not have the sun beating down on me.  It was about 60F.  The humidity was kinda high but I had some Gatorade with me, so all was well.

The Shell station right off of Highway 82 was the perfect place to start.  I parked in the back of the Shell station, did not want to get towed while I was gone, and took off to the exit for the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.  That was just a hair over six miles away.

Toddling along, enjoying the day when all of a sudden I noticed some syringes on the side of the road.  Hmmm….I thought.  I kept on running.

Then, I noticed a pipe. Hmmm….I thought again.  Then there were some deflated balloons with nice, neat little knots tied in them.  Hmmm….Somebody tossed their stash and tossed it in a hurry!

I crested a hill and low and behold there were the flashing blue lights of a state Trooper and a car pulled over.  The Trooper appeared to be checking out said drivers license.

All of a sudden…ZOOM!!!!! The car took off like a bat out of hell!!!  The Trooper hopped into his car and ZOOM!!!  The siren went on and both of them were G.O.N.E.

Wow!!!

I think that the “Paraphernalia” belonged to that motorist.

I just kept on running.  Did not see hide nor hair of either of them for the remainder of my run.  But, boy!  That was exciting!  And here I thought today’s run was going to be a quiet run.  HA!
