Trivia

First things first:  The baby chickens made it through the night.  They are fine.  They did not think they were fine, but they were.  We had to shove them down the ladder this morning so they could go down to where the food was and after that, they were happy.

Silly chickens.

I had a 10 miler scheduled for this morning.  In light of that, I decided on waffles for breakfast.

When we eat waffles, we put a very thin layer of peanut butter on the waffle instead of butter.  Then very warm syrup over the top.  Tastes kinda like caramel!  Mmmm!!!

I did not eat very much seeing as I had to run 10 miles but it was tasty and fueled me perfectly for this mornings run.  Plus~the chickens got the leftover waffles!  Win-win!!!

The run this mornings was wonderful!  I was able to maintain a 12 minute mile pace the entire run.  Very consistent.  I ended up going 10.20 miles in 2:04.  For me, that is fabulous!

I was happy that my last run on the new highway went so well.

The construction guys were out in force today on the new highway.  Usually, you see one guy working and six guys standing around holding shovels.  Not today!  Everybody was working.  Deadline.  They have to open the highway tomorrow!  Burning daylight!

Saw familiar faces in the construction crew.  They waved as I ran by.  Tooted their horns.  Did not mind me running the road this one last time.  They are good guys.

Talked to MFH (My Favorite Husband) last night about getting some pepper spray for my long runs.  I will be doing some substantial runs by myself.  Previously, I ran them on the new highway but with it opening, I will have to run them on secluded rural roads.  So, I wanted to get some pepper spray.

A girl cannot be too careful.

MFH thought that it was a good idea.  Today, I will be ordering some.

In a couple of weeks, I will be getting my shipment of 12 pounds of bees in the mail!  I cannot wait until the postal carrier has to deliver them!  HA!  He is so afraid of those bees!     🙂

Paxton, the dog, has been well behaved lately.  I hope he is not getting sick or anything!

The cats, Kali and Castro, went to the vet yesterday.  They were due for shots.  They were disgruntled kitties!  Each cat received three shots and de-wormer.  Not popular!  BUT~they got a new piece of bling for their collars!  (Rabies tags)

I think that is it!  I sure hope we do not have more chicken drama tonight.  I had bad dreams of bad things happening to the baby chickens during the night.  Those baby chickens will be the end of me! They are such…chickens!  Tonight, I intend to put them up in the roosting area again if they do not go up by themselves.  Show them who is boss!

And, I think that is it!  Things have a way of happening at our house.  We keep busy.  That is a good thing! Hate to think what kind of mischief I would get into without all the running, animals and MFH to attend to.
