Today’s Run: 7.80 miles
It was a chilly, overcast, drizzly morning with a North wind. It was 39 F. I did not think I needed a jacket or running tights for this morning’s run. I THINK I was right. Seeing as I have been done with my run for 4 hours and am still chilling, I am not so sure. I ran in shorts and a long sleeved tech shirt. That should have been enough for 39 F. Must have been that North wind that got me…but that is not what we are here to talk about today, we are here to discuss this coming Friday. Friday, the 13th!
What is the big deal about Friday the 13th!? Everybody knows it is a bad luck day. Do not break any mirrors, walk under any ladders or cross paths with a black cat…Good thing I am not superstitious because we have two cats, one of which is black (the other one is white. The black cat is the mama of the white cat. Go figure.) This Friday the 13th, it will be a special day. It will be Christmas!
What!?! Christmas is on December 25th.
That is true, but…my sister and her family will be travelling to spend the holiday with her in-laws. That means they will not be in Mississippi on Christmas Day. We are getting together to do Christmas with her family and my parents on, you guessed it, Friday, the 13th.
My sister has three children ages 15, 12 and 9. Christmas is still a big deal for them. It would not be a good thing to make the kids miss out on the family gathering, so, this Friday is Christmas! I cannot wait!!!
I love giving gifts. I love watching the faces of the recipient to see if they like it or if they are unimpressed. Does not matter either way with me, I love the giving regardless.
Last year we gave each of the kids $40.00…all in $2.00 bills. They had never seen a $2.00 bill before and were not too sure if it was real money or not. Once they were assured it was real, then they had to count it out. It was interesting to see who could and could not count by two’s. They all did a pretty good job. They had good incentive to see just how much money they had received!
This year they are getting a present. Hope they are not too disappointed. I wanted to give them money again, in silver dollars. Those are a hassle to spend because nobody uses them much anymore, so a gift it is.
I still do not have a gift for MFH (My Favorite Husband). Suggestions are most welcome! We will be doing our gift exchange on Christmas Day~after I run my scheduled 24 miles. Ugh. I still have a couple of weeks to dream something up for him.
Has anybody else ever celebrated Christmas on Friday the 13th? Is this a first!? It sure is for me. Looking forward to it!! We will give the kids their gifts, eat BBQ and enjoy each others company. Should be a lovely evening.
Merry Christmas everyone!!!
