Uncle Lee

Today’s Run:  Rest Day

Uncle Lee is MFH’s (My Favorite Husband’s) uncle.  Well, actually he is my husband’s Aunts husband.  Complicated.  Regardless of how he is related, he is still going to be Uncle Lee.

Uncle Lee is a super, duper nice guy.

He and his wife built this really fancy house out in Colorado.  They “retired” to Colorado after living forever in Texas.  Quite the change of scenery and weather!

They have been in Colorado about four years.  They moved there around the same time we moved from Colorado to Mississippi.  No~we did not move to Mississippi because they were moving to Colorado~it was just time for us to move on.

Well, Uncle Lee works in construction.  He is a manager kind of a guy.  A high mucky muck.

Recently he has been working on a job in Tuscaloosa, Alabama!  He has been only an hour away from us for the past six months!  Small world, huh?

MFH found out that Uncle Lee’s contract is just about done in Tuscaloosa and that he will be heading back to Colorado pretty soon.  MFH called Uncle Lee and invited him over for Sunday afternoon!  Pretty cool beans because Uncle Lee said, “Yes!”

(Now, my spare time, the time I am not running, is being spent “sterilizing” the house.  Cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning.)

Normally, my house is presentable.  I would not be embarrassed if somebody just popped on by to say “Hi.”  That would be just fine with me.  However, Uncle Lee, like I told you, has just finished building this big, fancy house…my house is NOT big and it definitely is NOT fancy.

My house is a comfortable house but it does have its issues.

We purchased this house sight unseen.  It was a HUD house.  A foreclosure.  The people who lost the house did a bit of “damage” to it and we are slowly but surely repairing it, but it is not done. It is a comfortable house and I do not cringe every time I look at it (well, except for the flooring.  THAT is pretty awful) but my castle is definitely not up to par with Uncle Lee’s castle.

When we made the decision to move from Colorado to Mississippi, we knew we needed a place to live.  My husband, being the avid computer guy that he is, saw a few pics of our house online and though that that house may be suitable for our needs.  He placed an incredibly low bid on it and they accepted it!  We were thrilled!  We were terrified!  That meant we owned TWO homes.  Double mortgage payments!  Oh No!!!

We were fortunate that all this happened right before the bottom fell out of the housing market and we were able to sell our Colorado home immediately and move to Mississippi without incident.  Whew!

Yes, Uncle Lee is coming over this Sunday.  My house will be squeaky clean and we will have a wonderful time!
