Ultra Training Plan Explained

Today’s Run:  6.00 miles

As many of you know, I began training for my 50 Mile Ultra last week.  This is a HUGE challenge for me seeing as this is my first race that I will be be doing solo. My husband has trained with me for ever other race I have ever, ever done.  I’m a little bit scared and intimidated about this but I also am not one to back down from a challenge.

The time has come to explain exactly what I will be doing over the course of the next 14 weeks.

I will have “Easy” weeks and “Hard” weeks.  Seeing as this was my first full week of training, it was an “Easy” week.

My week will look like this:

Sat. Sun. Mon: average runs of 6-8-10 miles

Wed. and Thurs: Will be back to back days of long runs.  These runs will average 20 miles to the peak of 30 miles.

My rest days will be Tuesday and Fridays.

That is what I will be doing.  That and sleeping.     🙂

Wish me luck!
