Today’s Run: 4.00 miles
Today, we had our last training run before Sunday’s marathon.
We are in Connecticut for two days before we head off to Boston tomorrow to pick up our daughter. What a very pretty state! This morning we ran on a lovely, lovely trail. This is the first time EVER that I have run on trails.
Our hotel is a half mile from a trail system that goes through the town in which we are staying. The hotel desk clerk told us that it was close. What he did NOT tell us is that it was half a mile going straight up! UGH! We got to the top of the hill, found the trail and ran. It was so pretty!
The trees here are beautiful! The fall colors are in full swing. These same trees canopied the trail for us. Where the leaves had already fallen, the ground was a colloquy of color! I told my husband as we ran that “even the dirt is pretty!”
We will swing back through Connecticut next weekend. I do not know if we will be up to running again so soon after the race but if we do, I want to run that trail again.
I really, really wanted to run the trail because the Ultra I am registered for is all trail running and I have never run trails before. I was curious as to what it was like and if I could do it without losing pace and/or tripping over a root or something and breaking my leg. It was a successful run and I am feeling a bit more confident about this Ultra.
On another note, I was able to meet up with a MFP friend for dinner. He, his wife and son came and they were able to meet MFH!!! We had a great time! Thanks y’all for the dinner treat!
Here is a pic from today’s run.
