Today’s Run: 11.50 miles
We did our long run today. We ran for 2:25~that’s two hours and 25 minutes.
When we began our run it was nice out~68 F. 86% humidity. Great weather by Mississippi standards. When we finished 2:25 later it was 80 F. and still 86% humidity. It was getting a little warm and uncomfortable. My husband is sensitive to the heat and he was starting to have a little trouble with it. The heat does not really “get to me” but I much prefer the cooler weather.
We were spoiled last week running in Colorado. It was cool and there was no humidity, so to speak, so we are acclimating to the heat and humidity all over again. Oh well…
Our route for the running group this morning was an old favorite, the “Chinese Restaurant Route”. There is about 3 miles of gravel on this route but I am used to it now and all is does is slow me down a bit, not really a lot of trouble like it used to be. The problem lies with Pike Road.
Pike Road is The Road That Never Ends. We are on this road for six miles. Six very looooong miles. We actually have two water stops on this road. Surely there is a better way to break the monotony of Pike Road than a water stop? Apparently not.
It is nice to chat with all the people in the running group and the water stops. There was a nice turnout today, too. Maybe 30 people! That is great! We like to see a lot of people~you can get motivated by the other runners and hopefully pass a little energy on to them, too!
When we run Pike Road, all I can think of is Lamb Chop. Do you remember Lamb Chop?
