Today’s Run: 4.20 miles~~~Intervals
We ran today. We ran Intervals today. Ugh.
My husband told me last night that we would be running intervals this morning. Yikes! I had bad dreams last night. Dreams of running as fast as I could and not moving forward~not even one little step. Dreams of running from monsters who were out to get me and not moving forward~not even one little step. Dreams of just trying to run and actually losing ground~going backwards! A lot of steps! Intervals strike terror in my heart. He should have waited until this morning to tell me. I could have had a decent nights sleep that way.
It was not as bad as my dreams this morning. Instead of doing 10 X 400’s we ran 20 X 100’s. I think that is an improvement? Instead of running one mile warm up and then going all out, we ran one mile warm up and then did some “easy”, some “medium”, and some “hard” with some different combinations tossed in “for grins”. After all of that, we did another one mile run to theoretically cool off. Funny that, thinking that a one mile run will cool you off.
I hope that we did not over do it. We have a 12 miler with the running group tomorrow morning at 6:00 a.m. Usually, the day after intervals I am worthless. Maybe that is why we only did 100’s instead of 400’s. All I know is, I am not going to argue with the “coach”!
We have a full marathon coming up on October 20. We are going to follow Hal Higdon’s Novice II program. It does not call for any interval training. Yay! But we decided to do a little bit on our own before the real training begins.
Training for the marathon begins officially on June 17. One month from today. Wish us luck, safety and speed!
