Tadpoles And Other Changes

Today’s Run:  5.17 miles

We ran Schaeffer’s Chapel route this morning.  Lovely run!

When we run the Schaeffer’s Chapel Route, we pass some stagnant water.  It is actually a drainage area from some farm fields that accumulates into a little pond.  We have noticed that this little area of water has come tadpoles growing in it!  How much fun is that!?!

At night we can hear frogs croaking.  It is fun to listen to them.  Soon, there will be a lot more of them. That is a nice thought.  Sometimes during the Summer months, we actually get frogs come up close to the house.  Some of them are tree frogs.  They are small and have little suction cups on their feet and they climb our glass doors.  It is entertaining to watch them do their acrobatics on our house.

Other changes on the Schaeffer’s Chapel Route…  We crossed the four lane highway to get to the road that goes to the plank bridge and they had put a big gate across the access road~on both ends of the road, too!!! How are we supposed to run on the plank bridge with a huge gate blocking the road on both ends!?!

Fortunately, the chain they placed around the gates did not have a padlock on it and we did not have to do any serious trespassing (like climb over the gate).  We just unwound the chain and opened the gate and kept on running, and running, and running.

The clover is done blooming and soon they will have to bush hog the road side.  The cattle that have had babies this Spring, well, the babies are no longer “cute and cuddly”~the are just little cows now.  The trees are fully leafed out.  Everything is green, green, green.  Green is my favorite color.  And here in Mississippi, that is a very good thing.unnamed
