“Daisy, Daisy…”

My Daughter sent me a birthday present a while back.  It is supposed to double as an Anniversary Present.  Seeing as my wedding anniversary is coming up in a week, it is front and foremost in my mind again.  And in the garage.

No~it is NOT a car.  It is a Tandem Bike.  A two seater bicycle.  Awesome!

When we received the Tandem, my daughter made me promise to sing (and sing loudly) on our first trip around the neighborhood the song “Daisy, Daisy…”.  So, we assembled the bicycle and headed off with me belting out that song.  My husband was Not Impressed with my singing but a promise IS a promise, so I sang.

“Daisy, Daisy give me your answer do.
I’m half crazy all for the love of you.
It won’t be a stylish marriage,
I can’t afford a carriage.
But you’ll look sweet,
Upon the seat,
Of a bicycle made for two”.

It is an awesome bike!  It is a traffic stopper for sure.  People slow down and crane their necks to watch us go by.  It is amusing.  Our little neighbor boy said it best…”Mama Look!!!  That be a two people bike!”.

Yup.  We are the talk of the neighborhood.

Seeing as we are from Colorado and NOT Mississippi (well, we have lived in Mississippi almost 4 years now) the neighbors tolerate our “Western ways”.  We are a novelty.  And the bike just adds to our uniqueness.

I don’t sing anymore.  There is only so much the neighbors can handle of our “Western ways” and we don’t push the envelope too far.  So, today, when we go for our bike ride, I will be humming contentedly to myself…
