What does the movie Galaxy Quest and boat oars have in common? Everything!!!
In our last episode, I had purchased a row boat for MFH (My Favorite Husband). It came with ONE paddle. Not an oar. A paddle. And as a general rule, you need TWO paddles and more preferably, oars to make a row boat mobile.
MFH has been shopping online for oars. They are not easily attainable. Especially if you do not want to spend a lot of money on them. Hmmm, what to do.
Enter Google.
There are YouTube videos on how to make your own oars! My husband is a do-it-yourself kind of a guy and this intrigues him. There is only one small problem. You need a lathe. He does not have a lathe. This makes his plan to make his own oars a little bit more of a challenge.
MFH was discussing this with my son and his frustration on attaining oars~all he really wants to do is go fishing! My son, being the smarty kid (23 yrs old) that he is quoted from the movie Galaxy Quest…”Look around you, can you construct some sort of rudimentary lathe?”.
It was funny at the time.
