…With An Ice Pack On My Knee?

Today’s Run:  half mile

I would love to say that today’s run was awesome~but it was not.  We ran a total of a half mile today.  We went 1/4 of a mile and had to turn around.

See, I took Saturday and Sunday off because my left knee is giving me fits.  When we had the sick chicken, we had her area of the solarium barricaded off so the dog could not get to her and scare her.  That meant that I had to lift that leg over the barricade every time we fed her or checked on her and that really irritated my knee.  I knew it was happening but could not see a solution to it.  Rats.

By the time that chicken died, I was limping pretty bad.  Took a lot of Advil.  Ice.  Stretch.  Advil…Ouch.

So, I decided to take two days off from running in the hopes that my knee would return to normal and quite being difficult.

This morning it felt pretty good!  We got dressed for the run and I took 3-5 steps and knew~Nope!  This was not going to work.  Took a few more steps and thought, “Well, maybe it will be okay.”.  Took a few more steps and threw in the towel, turned around and gimped back home.   Rats and Ouch.

So, Maybe Wednesday I can run.  Tomorrow I can go the the gym and lift.  That is okay at least!  Then we will try a few tentative steps on Wednesday and see how the knee feels.

Seeing as how we signed up for a 10K race the first weekend of May, we really do not have a lot of time to baby a knee.  But also, we do not have a lot of time to make it worse…so, I will take the time off that is needed and be gracious about it (I hope).
