[Todays run: silo route, 6 miles]
The last few mornings we have had some DX possibilities on VHF sideband/CW. Today there was a big red blob on the APRS map, which was just to the north of me. I figured I would probably be missing out on the action.
I left the radio on, volume turned down low, and went about the morning household business. I started to hear a station, first on CW then on phone. It was KC0CF in central Iowa, grid en32. That was a nice surprise. I was able to work him on both code and phone. I could hear him working some other Mississippi stations. I did not hear anyone else but him.
That’s a 670 mile shot from my house to his. I don’t think that is the longest VHF contact I have done, but it is a pretty good one! (picture is a screen shot from the QRZ.COM website)
