I had some forward progress on two projects
On the GPSDO problem, it looks like it is an antenna problem. The GPS has to talk to the antenna to get timing signals and the antenna I am using really wasn’t meant to be out in the sun, which it has been now for a number of years. I have ordered a more suitable antenna from Ebay.
On the EMS ENDEC problem (did I mention this one? One of the stations we are supposed to monitor for EMS signals has not been coming though clearly.) I worked today to build a balun transforming my 300 ohm twinlead antenna to 50/75 ohm shielded coax. I noticed that I still have the problem when the antenna feedline is close to the balun and twinlead. So I’m going to move that junction up on the wall away from the feedline. I feel like I’m making good progress on this.
I also did some more work cleaning up my office, throwing away old papers and filing some. It is still a mess but less so. More to do on this front.
