Hit the road

[Monday: 4 TM miles; Wednesday: 3.1; Today: 5.0]

Today we hit road for Colorado. Drive to Chicago, fly to Denver, drive to Loveland. Dogs and cat and #1 son remain at the house (so don’t nobody be having any ideas). Flights from OHare to DIA are $65 round trip. We’ll see if that works smoothly. It will cost us more to park in Chicago for a week than to fly two of us to Denver and back. Crazy. There is an airport here in Dubuque but the prices were more of the normal variety, 5-6 hundred bucks each.

I have packed up my software development equipment and hope to work remote-remote from Colorado while mom and daughter and grandson do their thing and son-in-law goes back to work. I am mildly apprehensive about how all of this is going to work, but I can easily come back early if that is better. (The main downside of my current job is the lack of vacation time.) With my various jobs and tasks, I have three laptops to take along. I may live dangerously and go with just two!

In other news, my big-time ultra-runner wife talked me into running the 20k mini-race in Laurel in March while she does the 50k. 20k is about twice as far as I like to run. But now she has gone and gotten injured and can’t run it. I’m still training for the 20k. So I’ll be driving to Mississippi to run a race. Not her fault, just a bit of providential humor I think.
