Our hotel has a very good, free breakfast. This is a Holiday Inn Express, the kind of place in the US that might have some cold cereal and maybe a waffle maker. Here they have cheese, coldcuts, fruit, fancy coffee machines, breads, etc.
We did that for breakfast. Then we walked about 2-1/2 miles north to the Brandenburg Gate. That is where the marathon ends. We walked west into the Tiergarten park where the starting line is going to be. Then we came back the same way.
In the afternoon we walked south 1.5 miles to the marathon expo which was held at the former Tempelhof Airport.
So we walked at least 8 miles, probably a couple more in the Tiergarten and at the expo.
Today’s German word: Abgeschleppt. You don’t want to be abgeschleppt, it will cost you some money. We see this word and similar little pictures quite a bit on our walks in this area.
