Truck Work

[Today’s run: 25 minutes]

I’ve been in Colorado for a few days, checking in at work and visiting at my daughter’s house.

The people at work all seemed to be happy.

Daughter had bought a 1979 Toyota pickup truck, blue, basically from a junk yard in Cheyenne Wyoming.  They had listed it on Craigslist and she liked it.  She drove it home from Cheyenne with the “Bat” light shining red.  That means the battery was not charging.  She drove it around for quite a while but eventually it wouldn’t go any more.  (It turns out you can drive amazingly far on just the battery!)

So I’m doing some car repairs on the old truck during my last hours here in Colorado.  We bought a new battery.  We bought a new alternator.  I need to install the alternator but it’s raining, cold and dark.  So I plan to do that tomorrow.

It’s a neat old truck.  I hope the new alternator will fix the charging problem.  The truck has a few other problems but it seems to be in one piece.

There comes a time when a person has to decide if they want transportation or a project.  I wouldn’t mind dragging it home to make a project.  But I don’t think that would be a good idea with the number of unfinished projects I already have.  And impractical since it would need to be towed or carried 1200 miles.  And, it’s not mine anyway!
