[today’s run: nothing… I did run about a mile on Sunday]
Today I went to meetings and such in Fort Collins. There sure are a lot of people around here.
We moved to Mississippi in October of 2009, a little more than four years ago. I think I’ve started to lose my appreciation for city life.
Fort Collins is a very nice city. There are main streets north and south on a one mile grid. In between there are neighborhoods, usually with winding roads. So the main streets have a lot of traffic and the neighborhoods are fairly quiet. There has been some development since we moved. They are working on a new bus-only corridor.
Off of the streets there is an extensive network of bicycle trails. When we lived here I was able to ride a bicycle from our house to my office without going on or crossing any major streets. The downside though was that I had my new bicycle stolen while we lived here.
Now we live in a more relaxed place. The pace of life in general is slower. And we can afford a little bit of land in the country. That couldn’t have happened in Ft. Collins; much too expensive.
I miss living in the mountains. But I don’t miss the traffic and bustle and expense.
I am glad that I have the opportunity to visit often.
