[Today’s run: Watson Road 3.5 miles, yesterday: 1 mile]
I worked some on the nixie clock project today.
I have the 10 MHz GPSDO frequency standard running into a little picDIV dividing down to 1 pulse per second.
I used my dremel with a cutting wheel and hacked the back half off of the nixie display board. I liberated the decimal counters and created a pc board which would fit in the long socket. I’m driving the display, 5+ and ground from the long socket. For the nixie HV I’m going to a trace on the old board.
I was running two digits from a protoboard. But now I have installed one of the decimal counter chips dead-bug style on my pc board and am feeding it from the picDIV which is still on the protoboard. My first attempt was all soldered in before I found that I had messed up the pin numbers. And I was trying really hard not to do that. I think I rescued that counter chip. We shall see.
Now it is counting single-digit seconds very nicely. You can see I’m using a lot of clip leads.
