New Boat

[Today’s run: silo – six miles]

Yesterday my son and I took the new boat out for the first time.

My daughter and wife decided that I needed a boat.  So they shopped on Craigslist and found one really cheap.  My wife told me we had something to pick up, but not what it was.

So we drove the truck about 80 miles and picked up this old boat.  I’ll get a picture for you eventually.

It is a bit used.  Yesterday, my son and I took it out on the water.  If floats.  And it didn’t leak at all that we could tell.  It is all aluminum, a pointed-prow style, 12 feet long with three seats.

Now I am wanting to get some oars set up for propulsion.  I bought some wood at Lowes this evening to start making oars.  Unfortunately, I intended to buy 8 ft boards but I bought 6 ft boards by mistake.  I already have one oar cut out, so I guess it will be a practice oar.  If it works ok then I’ll just go with the 6′ oars.

Store bought oars are about $50 each, so I can still probably be ahead a little bit.
