Pencils

[Today’s run: 5 miles]

I usually use a pencil when I copy morse code.  I have some cheap yellow pencils where the lead is not centered in the wooden part.  Those sharpen so that the point is not centered.  I have some others, round ones, which sharpen up really nicely.  I have an electric pencil sharpener.

I buy the notebooks from Walgreens or WalMart after the back-to-school sales are over.  You can get either bound or spiral notebooks for a buck each.  I use them to copy down the CW when I am listening or having a conversation.  I may not write down everything, but most of it anyway.  Over the years I have gone from all caps to a mix of cursive and printed lower case letters.

I try to always write down the callsign,  frequency and date/time.  I also have a logbook where I put the particulars.  If I forget, or mess up the log, I can usually find it in my notebook.
