Today’s run: 2.5 miles
As a general rule, we spoil our animals. They get nicer toys, nicer food, and nicer beds than we do. The dog has a pile of blankets on which to sleep but chooses to sleep on our bedroom floor with his head on one of my pillows. Spoiled. But that does not compare to the cats (notice plural cats as of this past Sunday).
My husband decided that our cat (singular) needed a scratching post. We went shopping but did not like the quality of the posts available at our local pet shop. They looked and felt like a light breeze would make them crumble, so we decided to build our own.
We had scrap lumber so we picked up a carpet remnant at Wal-Mart. It was a definite “do-it-yourself” project. It was a lot of fun to do and the cat (still singular) was thrilled beyond belief. As time progressed, we added little bits of this and that to our very sturdy scratching post. The cats (now plural!) utilize it instead of the furniture so everyone is happy. It is not the most beautiful piece of furniture one could have as a center piece in their living room but it suits our family needs perfectly.
We have jingle balls, fuzzy mice, a kitty feather boa, yarn, strings, a shelf (Kali’s throne) and a live catnip plant.
