The Concrete Guy

Today’s Run:  50 min lifting at the “Y”

We are making plans to finish off the pergola/arbor/patio project.  This was our Summer project as as projects go, it has proven to be a doozzie!  We worked pretty hard (with the help of family) to get the actual construction of the arbor/pergola up and were successful with that.  It looks great!  As the next parts of the project presented themselves, we realized that “Huston, we have a problem”~we were projected out!  Oh no!

The next step of the project meant that we needed some sort of a retaining wall.  The ground had a pretty steep slope on the SW side of the house and unless we wanted a two foot deep pad of concrete, we needed to do something to shore up that ground.  Enter the Yellow Pages.  I called around and found a landscaping guy (who turned out to be a distant neighbor) to put in a low, native stone retaining wall for us.  Cheap.  He did a very good job.

Which brings us to today.  Well, which actually takes us to our next door neighbor.  Mr. Morris know everybody and everybody knows him!  He is a good friend and neighbor and he popped on over the other day and mentioned that he was “fixin’ to get some concrete poured”.  Apparently a guy from his church is a concrete contractor and would come and give him a deal and Mr. Morris had mentioned us to his friend…anyway, the friend came over today (with his wife, who is a very nice lady!) and gave us an estimate on pouring our pad.  He will be back next Monday with a concrete truck and pour us the rest of the patio and our project will be complete!  Finished!!  All Done!!!  Yeah!!!!
