The “Y”

Today’s Run:  50 min lifting at the “Y”

Today is Thursday and it is my one of two days of the week that I do not run.  Instead, I go to the “Y” and lift.  Many runners do not lift.  They think that it bulks them up and slows them down~and to be honest, I am a little bulky~and slow, so there may be some truth to that.  But current research is showing that upper body strength is helping with endurance when your legs “poop out”.  So, I will continue to go to the “Y” and lift on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Not due to that report that I read but because I like it!

Anyway, slow and bulky I that I am, I still need a ride home when I am done.  My husband and I have gotten into the routine of traveling into town together.  He goes and buys a donut or runs some errands while I get all hot and sweaty.  When I am done, he picks me up and we toddle on home together.  It is a nice arrangement.

I am able to see our church steeple from the “Y” parking lot.  Today while I was waiting for my husband to pick me up, I looked at our church.  Wow!  I grabbed my phone as fast as I could and this is what I saw…aside from the power pole, you could see the sun rays breaking right on top of the church steeple.  Pretty cool and definitely lost in the translation of cell phone to laptop but still pretty cool.
