5K Race Report
Today’s Run: 3.13 miles~ 38:13 PR!
Today was the Street Car 5K that I told you about the other day. We had around 200 runners for the event. It was well organized. A very pleasant way to start off a weekend.
I came in 148th place. Not terrific over all, but for me, pretty good! My husband and I never lost sight of the main “amoeba” (the main cluster of racers) so that means that I am getting faster (my poor husband can go much faster than I can but stays with me just to be nice). I made a 30 second PR over my last 5K so that was good, too!
The course was all flat for the first 2 1/2 miles then that last little bit of the race was uphill. Not just uphill, but UPHILL! To start the uphill first we went down, down and down some more. Yikes! The coming up was divided into two sections, the first one was not all that bad, then you had a city block of level street and then it seemed you went vertical. I almost “ralphed” on that second hill. Ugh~that would have been so embarrassing.
We made it up the hill and through the finishing gate, received our finishers medals and went to Cafe’ Aroma for our free coffee. Perfect. This is my husband, myself and my sister. We all ran and successfully completed the race this morning.
