Marathon Maniacs and “Go Time”

Three years ago in the  Spring of 2015, I qualified as a Half Fanatic.  I didn’t set out to become a Half Fanatic, it just kind of fell into my lap.  See, I ran two half marathons a week apart from each other.  The reason I ran those races was to meet up with friends.  The races were fun but meeting up with friends was tons of fun!!!

Me, being the “Type A” person that I am decided that if I was a Half Fanatic, I should become a Marathon Maniac, too!

My first attempt at becoming a MM (Marathon Maniac) didn’t quite work out.

See, I do a lot of #RunnersMath.  Now, when I’m out running, that generally works out, “close enough.”  When trying to qualify for MM, “close enough” isn’t quite close enough.

I ran the Berlin Marathon in the fall of 2015 and then, 3 weeks later, ran MCM (Marine Corps Marathon).  I thought for sure I had my MM status in the bag.

Nope!

Turns out I was 3 days past the “allowed” time frame to qualify.  No Exceptions.

Rats!

The past two years, something has always happened that has thrown a wrench in the monkey works for me to get my Marathon Maniac number.

Here we are in 2018 and I’m going to give it another shot.

Now, when I line up my annual race schedule, I’ve never once done it with my MM status in mind.  I just run my events and do the happy dance if I might get close to qualifying.

Guess what!?!

This year~if nothing weird happens to mess things up~I just might get my Marathon Maniac status!

YAY!!!

In 17 days, I’ll be meeting up with a bunch of Twitter friends and running the Phoenix Marathon!  I’m soooo excited!

This kid has never been to Phoenix before so this is going to be all sorts of new stuff!  This will also be race #1 towards qualifying for Marathon Maniac status.

The very next Saturday, I’ll be running the MS50 Trail Run.

The MS50 offers three different distances: 20k. 50k and 50M.  I’ll be running the 50k.

I know this event well.  I’ve run it twice and volunteered once.  It’s tons of fun!  I very dearly love this race!  It can be a tad muddy but that just adds to its charm.  I mean, who doesn’t love channeling their inner child for a fun 32 mile run?

Gotta love the water crossings at the MS50!  I can’t wait!!!

Those are my plans for the last weekend in February and the first weekend in March.  Doesn’t that sound great!?!

With all of that in mind, I’ll be flying off to Phoenix in 15 days!!!

*****News Flash*****

I’m super excited to share that I’ve been selected as a SPIbelt Ambassador for this year!!!      https://spibelt.com/

HUGE YAY!!!

I’ve been hooked on SPIbelt since my very first marathon in 2013.  Terrific product!!!  It’s a rare day that you’ll find me running/racing without my SPIbelt.

Seeing as my new pooch, Tess, loves her walks, I’m looking forward to taking her for her walk/runs with the SPIleash!  Both of us are going to be soooo spoiled!

When I get my new SPIleash, I’ll be sure to post pics with Tess out on a walk/run with it.  She’ll be the envy of every dog in the neighborhood!

Tomorrow is a long run day.  We have 90% chance of rain.  It’ll be a duck weather running day for sure!  Looking forward to a soggy 18 miler tomorrow.  #BuildsCharacter.

Wishing you all many happy miles!!!
