Today’s Run: Sitting in the car and driving for 10 hours
We drove today the rest of the way home today. We traveled through Cairo Illinois where there is the convergence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers.
The rivers are very low and the sand bars extend almost completely across the banks and meet in the middle. The barge traffic is almost non-existent and the barges there are mostly parked.
Cairo is a run down, broken down, scary, depressing, skaggy town. I usually try to find something nice to say about things but something nice does not exist for this town. I feel bad about that but it is the truth. I feel bad for the people who are stuck living there. Well, I take that back. It is a small town so you are not put through the misery of driving there for very long.
On the whole we saw beautiful country today. The weather was perfect and we did not run out of Corn Nuts. Life is good.
