Memories

Today’s Run:  5 x 400’s

When we were on our vacation to Iowa, we drove past the two houses where I lived while growing up.  From the time I was 3-13 we lived in a itty-bitty house on Kinsey.  I remember my Dad mowing the yard, painting the house, putting in a new fence between our house and the neighbors.  It was a very nice, little house.

When I was 13 we moved to a larger house on John Patterson Rd.  This was definitely a step up as far as houses went and this is where we lived until I finished high school and got married after college.

So, we drove by the houses.  My heart sank when I saw the little house on Kinsey.  It is very tired and has had a hard life.  I think of all the hours my parents put into making it look nice and the pride they took in that house and it made me sad.

Then we drove to John Patterson Rd.  That house is looking great!  We had had two locust trees in the front yard and now they are huge!  The house is freshly painted and the yard nicely kept.  That was great!

Now, no one in the family even lives in the State, let alone in any of those houses but it was lots of fun to drive around and remember the “good ol’ days”.
