Today’s Run:  2 miles (1 walk, 1 run~my eye started acting up)

Progress report today.  We have not done any work on the pergola today.  We are waiting for yesterday’s concrete to cure.  Yesterday, however, my husband dug a 36″ deep hole, sunk a 4 x 4 post and filled it up (the hole) with concrete.  Once that has cured (maybe tonight) we will raise the next post and put horizontal  beams up to support the posts.  If we can get that done tonight then maybe, just maybe we can get some cross sections put up!

Yesterday was pretty exciting.  We had sunshine in the morning (rain in the afternoon) and the posts that were vertical had shadows!  Imagine!  Shade on the South side of the house!  What a wonderful thing.  Our air conditioner will thank us and the utility company will cry at the loss of income from our utility bill.

When the pergola (or arbor, whichever you prefer) is complete, the finished structure will be 10′ x 30′ with 7′ clearance.  Now, we are definitely not that tall but we have some people visit who are easily over 6′ and we do not want them to have to stoop.  So, we will have room for company, table and chairs, and an industrial size fan.  Cool Beans!
