Today’s Run: 6.25 miles (HOT!)
Last evening, my husband and I were lamenting our loss of the route to Schaeffer’s Chapel because we really wanted to run it again. As we talked, we realized that there may be a way around the closed road. Sweet! So, we hopped into the car and headed down the road to test our theory.
Sure enough, we were able to get past the closed road by going in a round about way. Now, mind you, this will only be a temporary fix. We discovered that we could run down the newest section of 45 S., the part that has not been paved yet and reach the new road that leads to Schaeffer’s Chapel. Success!!! Once they pave 45 S. and open the new section of Highway, we will be out of business again but we will just enjoy it while we can.
This added 1.25 miles to the route but that is okay, seeing as we are training to run a half marathon anyway. We need the mileage.
The road bed is nice. It is a mixture of sand and finely crushed gravel. Perfect for running. Too bad they are going to ruin it and put cars on it. Oh, well…what we will not do for improving infrastructure for our communities *sigh*. But what a glorious way to begin the day with a run to Schaeffer’s Chapel.
