Today’s Run: Rest day!
The Olympics are coming up and I am getting excited. For the first time, I wish I had a television because I would like to watch the running events. But I do not, so plan B.
They have streaming to your computer for only $4.99 per event. That could get expensive because I want to watch men’s and women’s events~primarily the 5,000m, the 10,000m and the marathon. That is three events multiplied by two genders at five bucks a pop…you can to the math. It is not that I have an inflated opinion of our medal prospects or anything, it is just that I have actually participated in two of those distances in the past year and I want to see how it is really done.
I subscribe to Running Times magazine and they had an article by Don Kardong in their most recent issue. If you remember, he ran the marathon in the 1976 Olympics and missed a medal by only three seconds. That had to hurt! I do not know it there will be any real heart breakers like that this year but if there is, I do not want to miss it!
So, I am back to my original problem. Do I spend the money on live stream feed or read about it the next day in the paper? We will see…
