I’m one of “those people” who, when it comes to big goals, ie: marathon finish times, I keep my cards pretty close to my chest. Why? Well, for starters, I am embarrassed about my lack of speed and second, if I miss my goal, y’all would never know! HA! However:
I have a pretty aggressive goal for Berlin. My big goal for 2015 was to get/break a 5 hr marathon (see, told you I’m not the speediest person out there). I had my first marathon of 2015 on Valentine’s Day. I missed 5 hrs by 5 minutes. I will say (as will almost every single runner that day) that the course was almost an entire mile long. Be that as it may, I ran that race exactly how I was supposed to and am content with how I did that day.
So, why am I blabbering on right now? Well, today I was supposed to run my 10 miles at marathon pace. That 10 miles was supposed to take my 1:50. It took me 1:56. At first, I was upset with myself! Then I realized that my pace this morning was the exact same pace I ran that race earlier this year. That’s not all that bad!
All that to say, I’m going to go out on a limb and share my, “In my wildest dreams” goal for BERLIN-MARATHON. I would LOVE to get 4:45 at Berlin. I’m going to have to hustle my substantial fanny to get it, but if the stars align, as they say, I might (might!) be able to pull that off. In reality? I’d be thrilled with 4:59:59!
Here’s to sharing goals and hopefully not coming away with egg on my face! 🙂
