Eagle Ear Paxton

Paxton has “selective hearing.”  By that I mean, we can come home from a shopping trip and he will be passed out on his doggie cushions (Yes, plural.  He’s too big for just one doggie cushion.) and not give a hint that he is aware that we are home.  We have arrived back home and bellowed at the top of our lungs, calling his name, and he might (might!) stagger off of his cushions to acknowledge that we have arrived home.

At first, I thought that his doggie hearing might be going.  Seriously!  He is five years old and Boxers don’t live an exceptionally long time.  He is a middle aged puppy!  This has been proven not to be the case.  How do I know this?  I’m so glad you asked.

A little while ago Paxton was sawing logs on his cushions in the other room.  I had gone into the kitchen for my dessert.  My Little Debbie Nutty Bar.  Mmmm!!!

I didn’t think a thing of it as I opened the wrapper.  You know the crinkly noise those wrappers make when you open them.  You’ve all heard it.

So, I’m in the kitchen and Paxton is at the other end of the house.

*crinkle*

BOOM!

There is Paxton.  He is sitting directly in front of me. He has his paw raised. He is ready for his dessert, too!

Silly dog.
