Today was the 2015 Boston Marathon.
The country had it’s eyes on Meb to win Boston for the 2nd year in a row. The odds for that happening were NOT good. By that, I do not mean that Meb isn’t a good runner! I think that Meb is a good as it gets as far as a world call athlete is oncerned!!! No, it’s just that it hardly ever happens at Boston. That’s all.
I logged onto a site to live stream the race on my laptop. That in itself was funny because MFH (My Favorite Husband) was in his office and could hear crowds cheering from the living room and me yelling, “Kick! Don’t let her pass you!” and all that kind of stuff. Finally, he couldn’t stand it any longer and came out to see what was going on out here.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“Watching Boston.” was my simple reply.
At this point. There was about 10 minutes left in the women’s race and probably about 15 minutes left in the men’s. Haha! For the remainder of the elites races, MFH stood next to me, glued to my laptop.
Boy, that women’s finish was tight! I was on the edge of my seat!!! Holy cow but that was a close race! The men’s race was close up until about the last mile or so, then the winner pulled out the stops and cruised to the finish.
Great running today in Boston!
Meb?
Meb finished 8th. That’s not too shabby if you ask me!
Meb was doing well and leading there for a while today but then when the lead pack picked up the pace, he couldn’t keep up. He ended up throwing up, I think they said 5 times in the last few miles of the race. The poor guy was having a tough race BUT he didn’t give up! Nope. He kept on running and giving it his all.
As he got close to the finish, he caught up with a woman runner. They were almost to the finish line when this happened….

That, my friends is a class act. This guy embodies what running is all about. He hadn’t won. He had come in at a disappointing 8th, but he did give that lady a memory she will never forget and in doing so, showed the world the unity that is the sport of distance running.
