All’s Well That Ends Well (a couple of pics and a couple of videos)

I mentioned a few days ago that our neighbor stopped by.  He was having an issue with a honey bee swarm by his front door.

MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I had gone over that same evening and tried to rectify the situation but by the time we left (at nightfall), there were a lot of disgruntled bees in the decorative pillar of that man’s front porch.

I spent a lot of time the next day making phone calls to the various “experts” in our area.  They all came up with the same answer:  Extermination.

This made me sad.

It also was the most sensible answer.

Boo.

Our neighbor had sprayed two cans of bug bomb down the pillar before we had arrived.  I went to check on the bees while taking Paxton, my pudgy pooch, for his evening walk.

There wasn’t a bee to be found.  No buzzing.  No nothing.  So I guess that’s good news and bad news.  I can’t decide which.

On the other hand, my bees are doing great!  I went down to check on them a little while ago and then are buzzing merrily along.  Here is a link if you want to watch my bees for a few sec:   VID_366540620_095815

I am so proud of my pampered and pudgy pooch.  He walked an entire mile yesterday evening!  He had some motivation…he finally noticed the cattle in the field near the house and he wanted to go and make friends.  We were off to visit the cows.

He was a determined puppy.  He kept up the pace.  He wanted to get as close to those cows as he possibly could.  I took one pic and one very short video clip.

You can see he is very, very interested in that cow!  The cow could care less.  That’s when Paxton noticed the cow a little further down the field.  We were off again.

As we got close, this new cow started, not just moo-ing but rather saying, “Keep your distance!”  He was big and he had horns.  Respect the horns!   VID_350691111_121540

Paxton, well, he’s never been around cows much and he thought this guy looked like a good playmate.  There were just a few strands of barbed wire between us and this guy.  I held Paxton back and took a very short video and we were on our way.

Once we had visited the cows, Paxton lost interest in the walk and realized just how far he had come.  Nothing to do but re-trace all of his puppy steps to get back home.  Haha!  That dog was soooooo tired!  I felt bad but he weighs 128 lbs. That’s quite a bit more than what I weigh and there was NO WAY I could carry him!  Nothing for it but for him to drag himself back to the house.

Once we got home, he got himself a nice long drink of water and then kind of collapsed by the front door.  He slept all. night. long.

Nighty nite, Paxton!
