Yes. I signed up for another race.
I need my head examined.
See, a couple of weeks ago, my running buddy (remember, I blogged about her a couple of months back) asked me to run a Half Marathon with her on March 28th. She already has lodging and said she wanted me to go to keep her company and run with her. I wouldn’t have to pay lodging/gas (even though I will), just go along for some fun.
I was going to pass.
Then, on the main RunJunkEes page, a very prominent runner in Mississippi and another Mississippi runner friend of mine were trying to talk me into running this same race. The prominent runner has a company that is also one of the sponsors for this Half Marathon.
I needed to rethink this.
So, I thought.
I asked around a few places. Trying to get a feel as to if this would be too much of a stretch for me.
If I ran this race, that would mean I had run a Marathon, a 50K and then this Half Marathon all within a 6 week period.
That’s a lot of racing.
To a person (including that guy who wrote the training program I am presently following) I was told that I would be fine! I would be running that distance again by that time anyway, might as well go and have some fun doing it.
So, I signed up.
My racing schedule now looks like this:
Feb 14: Mississippi River Marathon~~~Greenville, Mississippi
March 7: Mississippi 50 Trail Run (50K)~~~ Laurel, Mississippi
March 28: Viking Half Marathon~~~Greenwood, Mississippi
September 27: Berlin Marathon~~~Berlin, Germany
My name is in the hat for the NYC Marathon but the odds are definitely NOT in my favor for that race. I just had to put my name in the hat or else I would have gone bonkers wondering if I could have gotten into that race. 🙂 And anyway, NYC isn’t until November 1st. I’d still have plenty of time to recover from Berlin and get ready for NYC! HA!
That’s what’s pending on the racing front these days. Tomorrow, I should reach the 200 mile mark for miles run in 2015. I am behind schedule. What with last weeks trip to Colorado and the entire month of February being one big taper, I will have my work cut out for me to catch up here in the next couple of months.
I like a good challenge.
Let’s do this!!!
