I hate to admit it but it was a dreary morning in Mississippi today. It was overcast, 45F and rainy. Icky. But seeing as I’m doing this Holiday Running Streak, I headed on out the door for some miles. 10 miles to be exact.
It was my initial plan to run to Schaeffer’s Chapel. Twice. That would make for a nice, easy 10 miler.
Plans have been know to change mid run and today was no different.
I started on my run. Ran .35 of a mile and decided that I DID want my ear muffy thing. It was a bit more chilly than I expected so I went back to the house. After I had put on the ear muffy thing, I headed on out again en-route to Scheaffer’s Chapel.
The first time to Scheaffer’s Chapel was uneventful. Traffic was light on Highway 45 South. No problems.
Coming back on the country road that leads to the chapel, I noticed a herd of cattle running along side of me (this time inside a fence!). I stopped running. The cattle stopped running. I started running. The cattle started running. This happened a couple of times.
I remembered a FB friend of mine saying that I had the most interesting experiences on my runs and that I should take pics. I stopped running again (so did the cattle) and dug out my phone. I turned on the video part and started running again. So did the cattle…on camera! HA! I stopped again (I don’t know what the cattle did this time) and posted to FB tagging my friend. #FunTimes
After that, the time went quickly. I was running down a little side road when a car pulled up next to me and stopped. I looked. It was one of the people that lives in the area. She motioned for me to come over. I did.
“You run all over around here.” she said. “Can I get to my house from here?”
That is probably the strangest question I have ever been asked. I, of course, had to ask her where she lived. She told me the street. I thought a minute and said that yes she could get there easily and she drove off.
She had told me that they were doing some work on the railroad tracks that I run over frequently. Of course, I had to see for myself so I headed off that way (that is why I didn’t go back to the chapel).
Sure enough. They were working on the tracks.
While I was running to the tracks, however, a thought entered into my head. Doesn’t this lady know more than just one way to get home!?! Unreal.
I just shook my head, turned onto my street (of which I know many, many ways to find) and headed on up to the house. #1 Son had made a pork loin roast and it was waiting all yummy for lunch.
There’s no place like home! Sure hope that lady found her way to hers! 🙂
