Runners Feet and Nail Polish

Yesterday I told you how MFH (My Favorite Husband), #1 Son and I went shopping.  We had a great time and I found some awesome deals.

The thing I did not tell you about was the pair of “Recovery Flipflops” I bought for wearing after my daily runs.

My feet are usually screaming at me the rest of the day after a long run.  I hate wearing shoes so my choice is flipflops.  My feet get hot and I just cannot abide wearing shoes.  That’s just me.

I have been wearing a pair of Nike Flipflops.  They have that memory sole.  They were “okay” but that’s about it.  I have been living in them and they were dead in the water.  Time for something new.

Seeing as we will be spending three days at the Iowa State Fair towards the end of the week, I was keeping my eye out for something new.  Something that would keep my feet relatively happy.  I found something!  They are Sanuk(?).  They are solid black so they will go with everything AND they have some arch support..they are not board flat.  My feet seem a bit happier.  Time will tell.

Y’all know that I have recently lost 3 toenails…I have ugly runners feet.  I probably should wear real shoes to hide them instead of leaving them out in the open for people to see.

So, I was walking around the store a little bit to see if I liked the flipflops when the sales lady says to me:  “I really like your nail polish!”

I have this incredibly bright blue nail polish on my toes.  I am using this color for two reasons.  1)  To make me look like I actually have 10 toenails and 2)  To cover up by black toenails.  It is the only color I have found that totally covers the black toenails.

I absentmindedly thanked her and replied without thinking, “Yes, it covers my black toenails.”

The look on her face was priceless!!!  HA!

“You have black toenails!?!  How do you get black toenails!?!”  She kind of squeaked.

That’s when I realized that I probably grossed this poor girl out.  Oops!

I mumbled something about running and kind of let my reply trail off……..

I paid and left as soon as I could.

I hope she forgets that she ever met me.    🙂
