All Done!

All Done!

This is such a wonderful feeling!

I started training for this race in March and today was the very last training run.  A 5K.  3.1 miles.  It took me 25 minutes.  A PR for me, too!  My last 5K PR was 36 minutes, so this was a pretty substantial PR!  Cool Beans, huh?

So, now, I twiddle my thumbs until Saturday, right!?!

HA!

No.  Now I go about making lists on what I am going to take with MFH (My Favorite Husband) and myself down to Jackson, Mississippi, for the race.  A list of things I want at which water stop during the race.  The various things I want in Ziploc bags for easy reach during the race.  AND most importantly, things for MFH to eat/drink while I am running on Saturday.  I don’t want him to go hungry!  That would be bad.

The weather forecast has let up a bit for Saturday.  The high is only supposed to be 95F instead of 99F.  Whew!  The wind is supposed to be from the SW at 5mph during the race.  So, there will be a bit of a breeze while I am running.  This is good.

The bad news is, another person in my age division signed up for the race right before the deadline.  Boo.  She is good, too.  She has done a lot of Ultra’s and her average 50K time is right around 6hrs.  That’s fast.  Oh well…I’m going to go and have a great time!  That’s what I am going to do.

I didn’t think that the end of training for this race would ever arrive and here it is.  I feel like a huge load has been lifted off my back.  No more training runs for two weeks.

In two weeks, I hop right back into the middle of training for the Chicago Marathon.  I am already 8 weeks behind schedule for that race.

Here we go again!    🙂
