Happy Bunny Dance

#1 Son bought a baby bunny about a year ago.  This bunny was the cutest little thing you have ever seen.  He was white with brown and black spots.  Adorable!  #1 Son christened the bunny, Loki.

Over the course of the year, Loki grew.  A lot.  He outgrew two different “Bunny Boxes.”  On our third trip to Pet Smart for another “Bunny Box,” we decided to get Loki the largest “Bunny Box” they made.  It was obvious to us that he was going to be a BIG bunny.

Loki barely fits his bunny box but he really likes it.  I think that is because the only time he is in it is to eat, drink and sleep.

Loki’s favorite part of his box is the shelf.  His shelf sits high on the side of his box.  It has a “slide” attached to the shelf.  Loki likes to sleep on the shelf and then slide down the slide on his bunny tummy to get down.  What a silly rabbit!

Now that Loki is living at our house, we have “given” him a room that has been Bunny Proofed.  This room is our back room.  The Solarium.  There are no electrical cords for him to chew.  Nothing that we would care if he chewed it into splinters.  It is a safe room.  Loki loves it!  He hops around there to his little hearts delight all day long.

Now, when #1 Son said that he wanted a bunny, I wasn’t so sure about that.  I mean, what does a rabbit do?  They really don’t have much in the way of facial expression.  They hop around a bit.  They poop a lot.  That’s really about it!  Boy, did Loki prove me wrong.

Loki is a very sociable bunny.  When you walk into the Solarium, he comes out from his hiding place and does his “Happy Bunny Dance.”  Loki hops up high into the air, as high as he can hop!  Then, he begins hopping around and around and around your legs!  He is soooooo happy to see you!  After he has hopped around your legs, he begins to nudge your ankles with his nose.  This is your cue to pet him and maybe pick him up.  He is rather fussy about who he will allow to pick him up (I am one of the people who can do this).  If he is in an exceptionally good mood, he will give you a bunny kiss and nestle his head in your neck.  All this is the Happy Bunny Dance.

As you all know, we have two cats.  These cats are exception hunters.  They like to bring us “presents” almost every. single. day.  Kali is our rodent specialist and Castro specializes in birds.  Kali has not shown hardly any interest in Loki at all.  I have been surprised.  Castro, however, has shown a great deal of interest in Loki.  This makes me nervous.  At least it used to.

See, we were in the Solarium watching Netflix and Loki was being his cute bunny self, when Castro decided he wanted to “meet” Loki.  They got nose to nose.  This was more interesting than Netflix.

Castro was starting to crouch but Loki held his ground, nose wiggling and ears held high.

Castro reached out with a front paw, claws extended.  Loki thumped his back leg.  Loudly!!!  Scared Castro to death!!!

Castro hissed, proofed out his tail and ran!

Castro has not bothered Loki since.

Poor cat.  Served by a rabbit.  HA!
