I am loving this taper. I really, really am!
Last year, when MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I trained for our marathon together, we reached the taper period of our training and I wanted to keep on going. Run. Run. Run. I didn’t want to slow down. I had tons of energy and the lack of miles about drove me up the wall!
This race is different.
I had mentioned in a previous post about how weary I am. So tired that is has settled deep within me. I really can’t explain it. It goes way beyond needing a good nights sleep. It is total and complete exhaustion. I have been eagerly anticipating this time of tapering.
Yesterday, I only had to run 8 miles. It was lovely! This morning, only 4! Can you believe it!?! Only 4 miles! It was like Christmas morning!!! Well, except for this past Christmas morning where I was out on a 24 mile training run. It was a weird Christmas day.
So, I am Loving this Taper!!!
People are telling me that by the end of the week, I will be going absolutely nuts and they are probably right. But for how, I intend to relax. To be a slug. To only have to run 2 hours on Wednesday instead of 4-6. That sounds so awesome!!!
So, raise your glasses high! Here’s to tapering! Cheers!!!
P.S. 9 days until race day! 🙂
