Four Toenails Later…

My goodness!

Last Wednesday I ran the North side of the Frontage Road for the first time.  I had a great run!  Due to the fact that I was unfamiliar with the traffic pattern on that road, I ran on the white line the entire 12+ miles.  That is no big deal, except that there is quite the crown to that road.

When I finished that run, my right knee was uncomfortable.  Also, I had four very unhappy toenails.  Rats.  But that is the name of the game sometimes.

Because of the sore toenails, I slept on top of the covers for three nights with a separate blanket on top of me.  That way, I did not have the pressure of the sheets and blankets pressing on my feet and I could sleep better.   Plus, the toenails would heal faster.

The knee however, did not snap back like I would have liked.  I continued to run with it.  The very next day, I ran that same Frontage Road and stayed on the white line.  How dumb can I get???  The knee was more irritated and I ended up with a humdinger of a blister on that foot to boot.  Compensation for the sore knee.

I used some liquid skin on the blister and switched roads.  Added a knee strap for the knee.  Took some Advil and sucked it up.

That liquid skin stuff works great!

The four toenails bit the dust today.  All four came off.  Oh well, nail polish on the skin will do the trick there.  The blister is healed.  The knee is still tricky~AND I have a long run scheduled for tomorrow.

I thought about running the old highway for tomorrow but they took out the bridges~I cannot jump that far   🙂  The old highway is out.  That leaves the Frontage Road.

So, tomorrow morning, I will run the North side of the Frontage Road going down the middle of that road.  I will move for traffic but doggone it, I need my knees!  Because of how far I need to go, I will go as far as the airport exit.  Then I will have to cross the bridge going over Highway 82 and run the South side of the Frontage Road.

Why cross the bridge?  Because the North side only goes as far as the airport exit.

I will cross the bridge, go down the ramp to the South side of the Frontage Road for a couple more miles, turn around, cross the bridge, and finish up again on the North side to the Shell Station, hop into my car (like a bunny, HA!) and drive home.

Sure hope this works and my knees are happy and my lack of toenails do not cause me any problems.  Advil is my friend.
