Happy Birthday, Paxton

Happy Birthday, Paxton!

Paxton is my pudgy pooch.

He is round.  He is energetic.  He is enthusiasm personified.  He is a Boxer.

Today, Paxton turns four years old.

When we picked out Paxton, he was 5 1/2 weeks old.  Looking back on it, he was probably a bit too young to leave his Mama, but I think the people that owned his Mama, wanted to be rid of a bunch of boisterous puppies.

Paxton came right up to me.

“Hi!  You want to take me home, do not you!?”

Of course I did!  And, Yes, I did!

Paxton used to be cute.  I think he still is.  My husband says things to Paxton like, “I’m sorry you are so ugly.” and “I’m sorry you caught that parked truck.”

Paxton is the epitome of the loyal dog. Man’s best friend.

I cannot go anywhere in the house without my faithful companion following me.  I go take a shower and if I let him, he will sit just outside the shower stall~waiting.  If I am cooking, he is right there~ who knows when I might “accidentally” drop something tasty!?  If I leave for the store, he is right by the door, waiting for my return.

Paxton is friendly~almost to a fault.  I do not think he has met a person he did not like.

Of course, he is a marvelous watch dog.  That is one of the reasons I chose a Boxer!  When somebody comes to the door, he puts on a fabulous display of barking and snarling:  “Rip, Snarl, Tear.”  All the while, his little stub of a tail is wagging furiously!  Silly dog.  Many a delivery man has quickly left a package at our door and made a run for the safety of his delivery truck.

Funny Story:   I had an order from RoadRunnerSports~it was a running singlet.  It was not a fragile package.  Anyway, the FedEx person comes up the walk and Paxton saw him coming through the door.  He puts on his display of, “I am dog, hear me roar” and scared the delivery person to death!  The delivery person stopped dead in his tracks and threw the package as hard as he could to get it to land on the front porch!  When the delivery person saw that it was a good toss, he bolted for his truck!  Funny, that!!!

Paxton is a smart dog, he just chooses to hide that fact when it is convenient.  He knows the basics, sit, shake, down…he is really, really good at begging!  HA!

In case you are wondering what he got for his birthday, my son bought him a Tug of War rope!  Did I mention that Paxton is a lucky puppy!?!

Happy Birthday, Paxton.
