Seven Days…(times two)

Today’s Run:  70 min solid on those silly crutches

Seven days…isn’t that how the movie goes?

Well, seven days times two.  That equals 14 days but there is not a movie phone call that says 14 days so we will just practice our multiplication tables a bit today.    🙂

So, what is in seven days times two?  That is when I should be able to begin running again!

Not that I am one to count or be OCD or anything, but this is encouraging to me! I have been a very, very good girl and have been using my crutches religiously.  If you knew me, you would be astounded at how good I have been.  I am one to push the envelope a bit.

I am highly motivated to get back on the road.

Walking with crutches takes an inordinate amount of energy and by evening I am as tired as I am after a long run day!  It is grueling!

I will say that this has given me a new perspective on things, things that we all take for granted.  Carrying my purse.  Carrying ANYTHING!  Opening doors.  Shopping.  Cooking.  Loading the dishwasher.  Running the sweeper…the list goes on and on!

Next time you grab the mail or go to put the dog out, think about what it would be like to not be able to use your hands because they are holding the crutches that are holding you up.  This has been a real eye opener for me for people who deal with this their entire lives.  I will not be taking these things for granted, that is for sure!

Enough of that, though.  I have been extremely fortunate that MFH (My Favorite Husband) has been a HUGE help.  I have not been able to care for my chickens.  Each morning he has trudged out to the yard for me, broken the ice for the chickens with a hammer, fed the chickens, relocated the chickens, done all of the things for them that I usually do.  He has helped around the house as much as possible along with doing his own job!  He is a keeper, he is!

This has been a bummer but a good learning experience for me.  I guess you could call it a Win-Win!
