Today’s Run: 4.58 miles
Oh my…
MFH (My Favorite Husband) and I had errands to run last night. It was a good time to run them, too. a) They needed to be done and b) our internet was down…again 🙁 So, off we toddled to the next closest town and got all of our errands done.
Yesterday afternoon, I had purchased a pen that you would use for rodents such as guinea pigs, bunnies, etc to get out of their cages for exercise. It is quite tall and 48″ in circumference. Big. This was NOT for my son’s bunny (we are babysitting his bunny right now) but for the baby chickens I obtained on Monday evening. They have already outgrown the cage in which I had brought them home. They grow fast!
The baby chickens are very happy in their new home. They are taking up a lot of my back room with this play pen. I put Aspen bedding on the floor, their food and water dispensers and put them in there. They love it!
We left early in the evening for those errands I had mentioned. We got back home 8ish. We opened the door to “Bow-wow-wow” Paxton (the dog) was having kittens! He was clearly very, very upset.
Uh-oh!
MFH and I rushed into the house. Well, how about that. Those baby chickens can fly already! There was one perched up pretty high on the book shelf and another hiding behind the bunny’s cage. Hmmm…what to do… Obviously the cats (we have two) were snoozing somewhere and oblivious to the racket going on in the living room. Good thing, that.
“Bow-wow-wow!!!”
Well, here goes nothing!
“Paxton, NO!”
“Bow-wow!!!”
“Paxton, I said, NO!”
“Bow-wow-wow!!!”
Okay, now what!?
I said to MFH, if you can catch the chicken on the bookshelf, I’ll corner the one behind the bunny cage. The other two are still in the play pen.
That is what we did. With Paxton’s help, of course.
The poor little chickens were afraid and did not give us one ounce of grief for picking them up. They were very, very happy to get back into their play pen with their little buddies.
Paxton, parked himself firmly in front of that play pen the rest of the evening. He would not budge.
I now have an old (fabric) shower curtain over the top to discourage any other adventures.
Whew! That was some exciting evening!!!
