Today’s Run: 5.00 miles
Today was the first day in forever that I was able to run with MFH (My Favorite Husband). He has been having a bit of Sciatica issues and therefore unable to run. Then, he got out of the habit of running…but now we have a 12K race on New Year’s Day and he HAS to get back into running for that race~it is right around the corner! I think reality may have set in because he did an awesome job this morning. YAY, MFH!!!
If you recall, I had mentioned in a previous post that we would be having Christmas with my side of the family yesterday, on Friday, the 13th. I thought that that would make Christmas a memorable date, to say the least. Christmas went off without a hitch I am happy to say.
Everybody seemed genuinely happy with their gifts. There were no “spoiled sports” or graciousness, just a lovely evening.
I must admit to getting the most practical gift of everybody there. I received “Glimmer Gear” sleeves.
With all the training I am doing for this Ultra, I am finding that the longer the training run, the earlier I must leave in the morning to fit everything into my day. This translates into early morning running~AKA: running in the dark. It is nice to know that people have my best interest at heart because they bought me my Glimmer Gear.
What is Glimmer Gear!? I thought you would never ask!
Glimmer Gear is fancy LED light athletic apparel, in my case sleeves with a LED strip in them. The LED lights can be off, blinking or on as a solid ray of light. They are bright! The sleeves themselves are florescent yellow so as to be visible in daylight. They are a win-win!
I was afraid that they may be “stiff” due to the LED strip in them but they are soft and flexible…just like arm warmers or compression sleeves. They just have the added safety component of the LED lights in them. Sweet!
Here is the link if you want to see what else they make. If you bought all their stuff, you would look like TRON! HA! http://www.glimmergear.com/
Here is a pic of my sleeves. It is a little difficult to see the LED lights due to it being daylight, but trust me, these things put out a serious light! Pretty Cool Beans, huh?
