Bedtime Stories

Today’s Run:  8.76 miles

When my children were young, we had a “routine” where either my husband or I would read a bedtime story to them.  They looked forward to that time of quietness before falling off to sleep. It was a nice was to bring a bit of calm into a very busy house.

We had a book of short children’s stories with a  moral focus to them.  In the back there were pages for the kids to write out their evening prayers, if they so chose.  We still have that book.  Both of my children have found that book while visiting and remark on how much they enjoyed that time.  Funny the things that bond you as a family!

Hang onto your hats because we are going to take a leap of about 26 years and look at yesterday evening.  I. Could. Not. Sleep.  I was wired for sound.  No matter what I tried, I could not get sleepy!

MFH (My Favorite Husband) had received a book in the mail yesterday.  Part of a Christmas present from his parents.  He knew what that book was and could NOT wait until Christmas so he opened it early.  He decided to read it aloud to me.  This is what he read:

“In most low-power applications including RF, IF and low-power audio, the control-grid is biased negative with respect to the cathode (all thermatron voltages are referenced to the cathode).  Therefore very little or no current flows in the grid.  But in high power applications the grid may be biased positive to increase cathode-plate current but will also draw current, thus heating the grid wires…”  (1)

Slept like a baby!
