Boom! Done!

Today’s Run:  22 miles

Today’s run~22 miles.  Boom!  Done!

The Ultra training is ramping up a bit.  I had shared my training schedule a week or so ago.  Wednesday’s and Thursday’s are my “long run” days.  Seeing as today is Wednesday, that meant that I had a long run.  A very. long. run.

It has been a toasty and humid day in Mississippi today.  That made running rather “soupy”.  Made you feel like you were treading water rather than running.  Not being one to complain (too much), I will admit that I rather enjoyed the soupy weather as opposed to the super cold weather we were having a week ago.

Last Wednesday I ran in capri tights, long sleeve tech shirt, jacket, ear/head band thingy and gloves.  And I was freezing!  Today I ran in shorts and a sports bra.  There is no figuring for Mississippi winters.

I ran the first ten miles by myself.  Kept a pretty good pace, too!  After mile ten a friend of mine met up with me and we ran 12 more together.  That was fun!  She did not know if she could run the full distance I needed to finish my 22 miles but we got to talking and the next thing we knew, it was time to turn around and go back.  Cool Beans! She did not even realize she had gone that far!  Kudos to her!!!

Remember now, I told you that Thursday is a long run day, too.  So, tomorrow bright and early I have another 10 or so miles to run again.  That’ll be pretty easy~I hope.  My legs are tired from today’s run.  That is the whole idea, though, to get you used to running on tired legs so that when race day arrives (March 1, 2014) and I have to run all 50 miles in 12 hours, I will be used to running on tired legs and theoretically will not give it a second thought. HA!
